Failure to keep probation appointments - By Jim Brown ( probation officer )

In reply to Nicky M

I have to say that I don't really understand the piece about recall by Nicky M. It's quite straightforward in that failure to keep appointments with probation will almost certainly result in recall by the Ministry of Justice. As Nicky says, it's the person's own fault as they know that reporting regularly is a condition of the release licence. It's not particularly about risk, although if the person hasn't reported, how is the probation officer to know if the risk has increased or not? Unfortunately in many cases it might well have increased due to a return to either alcohol or drugs. By all means engage a specialist prison lawyer, but in the end just reporting is a lot simpler all round and might avoid a great deal more trouble and heartache.
