Prisoners Families Shocked At HMP Shrewsbury Closure

Staff at HMP Shrewsbury face a "very traumatic and stressful time", according to the Prison Officers Association (POA). The prison is one of seven that the Ministry of Justice have said will close. It said the plans, which also include two partial closures, would save £63m a year in running costs. The POA said it understood HMP Shrewsbury, also known as The Dana, would close by 31 March.

From Mother Kelly Via Email:
In light of the shocking news today regarding the closing of HMP Shrewsbury, do we have any idea where the prisoners will be transferred to? The staff and organisation at The Dana have done wonders with the inmates. My family member has turned a corner despite the disruption of being 100 miles from his small family.
