Dear Editor. Hi. My daughter went through exclusion when her Dad was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
She went from being the popular kid to the excluded one because her friends judged her on her Dad's crime.
We went through a horrible period and she became withdrawn but the judgemental attitude of her friends faded and things went back to normal. The period in which she was excluded was when her Dad was in the newspaper so it was a huge talking point in our community and of course her school. I too can't give any advice on this because although it shouldn't be 'one of those things' sadly it is and the only way around it is educating people about parental imprisonment. My love goes out to those who are suffering with social exclusion and I hope the situation improves. Best Wishes from Sarah Ann - Via email
