Dear Editor, I have been reading a number of posts on your blog concerning the elderly and prison.
I don't mean to offend anyone, but my Mum has dementia and her son is in prison. He's a lifer.
I am glad she doesn't understand that he is in prison for a very serious offence. Yes she does ask about him, and I do tell her the truth but it doesn't sink in and she just shrugs her shoulders. Of sound mind, she would be absolutely mortified knowing what he did. I visit my brother and yes he gets upset when I tell him that Mum is deteriorating, but there is nothing I can do about the situation as a whole. It's a sad situation and at times heartbreaking. I hope you publish my post. Lots of best wishes, Sandra.
