Violence, overcrowding and prison deaths put Welsh prisons among UK's worst

At Swansea Prison, where there are 458 male inmates, drug abuse and violence is at record levels.There were almost 150 prisoner-on-prisoner assaults and three cases of prisoners apparently taking their own lives last year, the worst figure for Swansea since 1978.Overcrowding was the worst figure in the UK with nearly 80% of prisoners held in crowded cells.Swansea prison came out 111th out of 117 in England and Wales.
